The Kuhlii Loach belongs to a family of fish known as the Cobitidae family. There are approximately 100 species of thie family worldwide, including sub-tropical and coldwater species. These fish are bottom-dwelling scavengers and they lack scales. Barbels surrounding their mouths are used to taste potential food items. As with all loaches, if there are insufficient hiding spaces, this fish will tend to lie on its side, showing minimal movement. This behaviour, although worrying, is normal. Largely nocturnal, loaches are shy fish that like to hide among driftwood, plant roots, rocks, and caves. Loaches are peaceful fish that get along well with other peaceful community tank mates. Color pattern consisting of 6-10 bars, usually irregular, with a dark large quadrangular blotch occupying the proximal half of caudal fin.
