This strikingly pretty and active fish is one of the most commonly kept aquarium species. All Barbus species are schooling fish and the Tiger Barb should always be kept in groups of six or more. Lonely Tiger Barbs have a tendency to become more aggressive, and are more likely to engage in the antisocial ‘fin nipping’ behaviour which is a less desirable feature of this particular Barb.
Usual adult size 7.5cm long hard and wet
